Origin of the Toc Toc dance trend: where did it begin?
Updated:
Short answer
Kicékéla, a.k.a. the Jean Phil dance, is a TikTok routine from September 2026. You stay expressionless, hop on one leg, knock at a door that doesn't exist, look back over your shoulder, and freeze with arms spread. Ozil Goal AI makes the AI take from your own photo.

The beginning
Most remakes follow a clip posted on 28 September 2026: one dancer in a white room, in a blond bob wig and white suit, with roughly 3.5 million views. It runs to a 2015 French party song, whose chorus question gives Kicékéla its name.
An AI clip of a tabby cat performing the same routine passed about 1.6 million views on 4 October.
The big wave
Largest of all is a 6 October post, a group version filmed in a university dorm corridor, at around 34.6 million views. CapCut “AI baby” templates arrived on 7 October. We read these figures on 21 October 2026 and haven't audited them.
Everyone can have a go: an empty room and a straight face are enough.
The constants of the solo version
- Still camera, bare white room.
- A raised-knee hop on one leg, face blank.
- A fist rapping at an invisible door, then a swing round to glare over the shoulder.
- Heels kicked out in turn, then a low arm spread that freezes into the finish.

Questions people ask
Is the dance from a film?
No. It began as a short phone clip on TikTok, set to a 2015 French party song. An AI take is a new video in which another dancer performs in the same bare room.
When did the Toc Toc dance take off?
Most copies follow a clip uploaded on 28 September 2026. On 4 October came the AI cat clip, and on 6 October the big dorm group video.
Is the AI clip real footage of someone?
No. Ozil Goal AI creates a new video from your photo, with no one else's footage or face reused.
