What exactly are the moves in the Spooky Scary Skeletons dance?
Updated:
Short answer
It comes in four parts. First a one-foot hop with a knee kick and a leg swing. Then a bouncy half-squat with rigid skeleton elbows on the beat, shoulder shimmies and hip shakes. The finale is stomping steps with one arm in the air. Here it takes about 11 seconds, and Ozil Goal AI dances it from one photo.

In order
- Kick: hop on one foot, raise the other knee, then fling that leg out to the side. It fills roughly the first three seconds.
- Skeleton elbows: squat low and wide, bring both elbows up to shoulder level and push the chest out on each beat.
- Shimmy and shake: shake the shoulders, swing the hips side to side and slide the hands down the body.
- Finish: stomp and sway, bring a knee across the body, then throw one arm up. It covers the last part, from about 8.5 seconds to the end.
Shooting your own
Set your phone low on the ground, step back until the whole body fits and leave the camera alone. Slow the music while practising. A handful of takes is usually enough.
Not in a dancing mood?
Ozil Goal AI will do the same moves with your face under a vampire cape. Eligible new accounts can start with a free preview in the generator, so looking costs nothing.
Questions people ask
Is the dance difficult?
Not at all. A kick, the elbows and the hip shakes repeat in a short loop, and keeping it stiff with a straight face is half the joke. Practise the elbows in front of a mirror first.
Does the AI version hit every step?
Almost. Order and timing match, though AI motion is never an exact copy, so runs vary a little.
Why does it keep coming back in October?
Its song is a Halloween regular, so every year the dance returns along with it as a seasonal trend.
